BULGARIAN PARLIAMENT ON TIME WITH EU REFORMS
01:00 Thu 22 Dec 2005

Bulgaria's Parliament is on schedule in approving all laws and regulations related to the country's EU accession. Yesterday the management of the parliamentary committee reported on all developments since the election of the new Cabinet. The committee processed 10 laws that have now been approved by Parliament. Most, such as the Penal Code and changes to trade regulations, are related to EU accession.
Additional priority reforms that remain to be approved have to do with trade and attorney regulations. The committee has approved the first reading of the the new trade laws and regulations on public property. Members of Parliament expect a Cabinet proposal for changes to laws at the beginning of next year. In the spring, the Cabinet must be ready with the changes to the Penal Code. The approval of changes to other laws  is dependent on changes to the Penal Code that must be approved first, Sega newspaper reported.
