A demand for the temporary suspension of some of Kremikovtsi activities has been put forward in the Bulgarian Parliament today, the deputy chairman of URF parliament group said, BTA reported.
The suspension would be in effect until environment pollution is curbed.
The MPs demand a moratorium on some of the production and disposal methods.
At the moment, the steel factory pays penalties for pollution, which is more cost effective than investing in equipment that would have , according to a representative from the steel mill.
In 2006, the factory paid over one million euro in penalties for environment pollution. In the beginning of July 2007 the management announced that over three hundred million euro would be necessary to solve the problem.
