Bulgarian world champion figure skating Maxim Staviski had been driving with a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 1.29mg per 100 milliliter, the Supreme Cassation Prosecution (SCP) said on the first day of the court case against Staviski.
On August 5 Staviski was involved in a car accident in which one person died, on ended up in coma and three were injured.
If found guilty he could face three to ten years in prison.
Initial blood tests had shown that Staviski had a BAC of 1.1 mg. Medical experts of the court have now corrected that to 1.29 mg to account for the delay between the moment of the accident and the test, which could be several hours.
