THE Bulgarian IT industry was represented for the first time at the Comdex international exhibition of high technologies in Las Vegas at the end of November.
Bulgaria was represented by a stand of the Bulgarian Association of Software Companies (BASSCOM), which was organised in co-operation with the Development of Communications and Information Technologies department of the Ministry of Transportation and Communi-cations.
Comdex is the largest US exhibition, which took place for the 23rd time and offered the best information and communication technologies of the companies in this sector.
Among the companies represented at the Bulgarian stand was Eastisoft. According to Deyan Vassilev, Chief Executive Officer of Eastisoft, the exhibition offers great opportunities for Bulgarian software companies. He said that in order to overcome the world recession and to assume a leading position in the sector, the Bulgarian software industry needs a better focus, clearer positioning and needs to differentiate from the stance "we will encode everything you ever think of commissioning".
During the exhibition Vassilev introduced Peter Genereaux, a consultant in IT development to the management of BASSCOM and officials from the Transportation and Communications Ministry. They discussed the opportunities for Bulgarian software companies.
Eastisoft was founded in Sofia in 1999 and develops market software solutions for online surveys, online application systems for universities and foundation scholarships, and inventory management systems.
It has established itself in the US market through its office in Salt Lake City, Utah.
During its three year existence, Eastisoft has developed software for a wide range of companies, non-profit organisations and educational institutions - from the Open Society Institute in New York and Budapest, the University of Utah and the American University in Bulgaria, to the Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowship, New York and Turpin & Associates, P.C., a tax problem-and-resolution firm in Salt Lake City.
The most popular products of Eastisoft are based on Microsoft products.
