Bulgarian Foreign Minister Ivailo Kalfin met admiral Mark Fitzgerald, commander of Nato's Allied Joint Force Command Headquarters Naples, the Foreign ministry said in a statement on May 8 2008.
The two discussed the situation in the Western Balkans, including in the context of the invitations Nato recently issued to Albania and Croatia to join the bloc.
The talks focused on Bulgaria's contribution to the operations in Afghanistan and Iraq, along with the perspectives for an expanded role for Bulgarian troops. Security issues in the Black Sea region were also discussed.
