Bulgarian film A Movie Buff at the Turn of the Century by director Petar Odadjiev won the award for best international documentary at the New York Independent Film and Video festival, a media statement from the director's office said.
The Bulgarian film won the award in a serious competition with 230 films from 60 countries. This was the first Bulgarian film to receive the prestigious award, Bulgarian News Agency BTA reported.
Interest towards distribution of the film was considerable. Director Petar Odadjiev was invited to present his next project at the American Film Market in Santa Monica, California, which would take place from October 31 to November 7, 2007.
The New York Independent Film and Video festival is known as 'the voice for independent film' and is one of the biggest movie forums in the world. It is organised every year in the two movie capitals of the US – New York and Los Angeles, with the participation of hundreds of films from all over the world.
