Some 240 million leva would be saved with the introduction of the first national plan for energy efficiency 2008 - 2010, a Parliament press office press statement said.
The plan had been accepted by Parliament on October 4 and implemented European directives on energy efficiency.
Main goal of the plan was to increase the energy efficiency of end consumers and to create circumstances for the energy service market to grow.
Some 240 million leva and 2 430 GWh of energy are expect to be saved by the implementation of the plan. The emission of hothouse gasses was expected to decrease with some 523 tonnes carbon dioxide.
For 2008 to 2016 a 9 per cent decrease in energy consumption was expected, compared to the period of 2001 to 2005.
