Though the mentality of Bulgarian employees was changing, they remained conservative concerning further qualification and the learning of new skills, Dnevnik daily reported.
Dnevnik presented the results of a report on European businesses and social policies.
The report aims to determine the degree to which Europeans are aware of EU policies and the manner in which these could deal with unemployment.
Bulgarians lacked information on the work of the European Social Fund (ESF). The situation was similar in a number of EU member countries, Dnevnik reported.
Unlike other Europeans Bulgarians were skeptical about the benefits coming from further training, the report said.
Only nine per cent of the polled Bulgarians enrolled in a qualification course over the past year. The percentage was highest in the Netherlands, where 42 per cent of the people participated in such programmes.
Though the majority of Bulgarians said they did not attend such courses due to the lack of time and money, 76 per cent said they did not need additional knowledge to keep their current workplace.
Bulgarians were also willing to accept various employment opportunities. Nearly 33 per cent of the polled people said they were willing to accept any kind of job.
