Bulgarian national movement Ecoglasnost, a member of Friends of the Earth International, can provide documentation for 140 normative violations related to the Belene nuclear power plant project.

The claim is in a letter sent by the movement to European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso, Bulgarian National Radio reported.

According to Ecoglasnost, the paper has been signed by the head of the Nuclear Regulatory Agency (NRA), Sergei Tsochev.

The letter said that the Bulgarian Cabinet failed to unveil the truth about Belene NPP before the Supreme Administrative Court. The magistrates themselves refused to examine the ecologists' findings concerning the issue.

Ecoglasnost insisted that the EC had to take the needed measures to stop the project.
