Close to 30 protesters have gathered near the Cabinet and Presidency buildings in Sofia for their weekly demonstration to pressure the Government to meet European Commission requirements about the Natura 2000 European ecological conservation network, Focus news agency reported.
Focus said that the demonstrators were negotiating with police to allow them to stand in front of the Cabinet office and collect stotinki (Bulgarian coins, each worth about half a euro cent) in a hat to go towards a fine that Bulgaria could have to pay if it fails to meet EU Natura 2000 requirements.
The protests have been held outside every Cabinet meeting for almost six months.
