BULGARIAN DOCUMENTARY WINS HUMAN RIGHTS AWARD AT SARAJEVO FILM FEST

The Bulgarian documentary "The Mosquito Problem And Other Stories" from Bulgarian director Andrei Paunov won the human rights award at the 13th film fest in Sarajevo which finished on August 25 2007.

The film is a co-production of Bulgaria, Germany and the US in co-operation with British, Dutch and Finnish televisions.

The festival’s jury was headed by famous actor Jeremy Irons, variety.com reported as quoted by Bulgarian National Radio.

The award for best feature film was given to the Turkish "A Man’s Fear Of God" by Ozer Kiziltan.

Many world renowned film starts attended Sarajevo film festival. Juliette Binoche presented her last film by Anthony Mingela. She plays the role of a Bosnian woman, mother of a problematic teenager.

"The Mosquito Problem And Other Stories" recently won the special award at the 42nd Karlovy Vary film festival.

The film was also selected for the International Critics’ Week of the 60th edition of the Festival de Cannes in May 2007. It was the first Bulgarian documentary to premiere at the festival.
