A Bulgarian woman was arrested in Greece while trying to sell her child.

The 32-year old Bulgarian gave birth in Greece, Novinar newspaper reported. Police also arrested the nurse, who aided the sale attempts.

The two women were detained in the Greek city of Volos, while concluding the deal for the newborn.

Police in Volos presented themselves as potential buyers. The Bulgarian was attempting to sell her child for 18 000 euro when she was arrested.

On May 2 the Bulgarian woman and the undercover policemen met to conclude the fictitious deal. The nurse was also present.

A doctor acted as an intermediary in the illegal adoption and requested significant amount for his services. The Greek prosecution will investigate the issue. The baby is currently in a Volos hospital.
