Deputy Justice Minister Dimitar Bongalov handed in his resignation on November 9, Bulgarian news agency BTA reported.

Bongalov said he resigned for personal reasons. His resignations as Deputy Justice Minister was in connection with his resignation as deputy chairperson of the Green party, which came after disagreements with the party leadership, Bulgarian National Radio reported.

Bongalov said he thought it would not be appropriate to continue as deputy minister in a cabinet while he did not agree with the political direction of his party.

Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev confirmed that Bongalov had requested the resignation and that he would accept the request.

Bongalov had been in function since September 2005.
