A total of 714 kg of drugs, 424 kg of heroin and 231 kg of marijuana, were burned in the incinerator of the University Hospital Alexandrovska in Sofia, Customs Agency reported.

The drugs were nearly 67 million leva worth, Focus news agency said.

Customs Agency and Interior Ministry had seized the drugs during various operations. Only drugs for which the court had issued sentences or the Prosecution had issued a decree were burned.

Customs Agency had burned confiscated drugs 17 times over the past eight years. Nearly 18.5 tons of drugs had been burned, Focus said.

The last batch was burned five months ago.
