About 78 per cent of the real estate deals involving foreign citizens concern property along the northern Black Sea coast. The demand is second highest in Sofia, at only nine per cent. Despite the various real estate properties that the south coast offers, it managed to attract only eight per cent of foreign buyers. Property in all other parts of the country drew the interest of five per cent of foreigners. The analysis does not include real estate in Bansko. Bulgarian agencies attract foreign clients mainly through the internet. Real estate dealers expect increased interest in luxury apartments. More clients are expected to seek permanent residences, as Bulgaria is becoming an increasingly attractive destination. Thus vacation apartments would give way to permanent housing in bigger cities. This transition will take years, real estate specialists said.
More foreigners are beginning to inquire about property in the suburbs of Sofia. The number of buyers is 15 per cent bigger and the number of properties on offer has risen by 20 per cent. Bulgaria's expected EU entry makes the country even more attractive to foreign real estate investors, Sega reported.
