BULGARIAN BERBATOV’S TRANSFER IN MANCHESTER UNITED FAILS
11:05 Mon 27 Aug 2007

Alex Ferguson, coach of Manchester United, “shattered Dimitar Berbatov’s hopes of a dream move” to the team.

Ferguson was considered a strong supporter of the idea to bring the Bulgarian striker to United, but he said that “Wayne Rooney will be back in three weeks after breaking a bone in his foot and that he believes that fit-again Louis Saha could save him spending the money on Berbatov”, the UK's Daily Star Sunday reported.

According to the newspaper, Berbatov’s goal was to join Manchester United.

The transfer window in the UK closes on August 31 and Ferguson said that “we are not looking to do anything”.

No official bid for Berbatov had been made, but United is believed to have made an official enquiry for his availability, the newspaper said.

This is a spoiling tactic against potential champions league/title contenders - be they distant. The English FA should censure Ferguson and MU. We have had all this with Keegan and Newcastle before. Let's have Chelsea again or someone else but not MU. Since they let Beckam go, they are also rans.

united should get Berbatov so Rooney can play upfront along side Berbatov. They would/will make a good strike portnes. But will Berbatov come to United
