The top Bulgarian banks in terms of credit ratings are Postbank, Bulbank and United Bulgarian Bank.
This is according to a March 9 report by Bulgarian-language daily 24 Chassa, which said that 10 out of 27 Bulgarian banks had been given ratings by leading agencies including Moody’s, Standard & Poor’s and Fitch.
The ratings were an indication of a bank’s capacity to serve debts and an assessment of its operations and its prospects for the future.
Of the 10 banks rated, International Asset Bank ranked bottom, the newspaper said.
Meanwhile, on March 8, the full list of European banks interested in operating in Bulgaria was published. Among the 29 foreign banks interested in Bulgaria are Royal Bank of Scotland, Erste Bank, Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley.
