Head of the national youth and sports agency Vessela Lecheva presented a strategy for the development of national sports infrastructure.
Such strategy was drafted for the first time since the creation of the agency, BGNES Sport agency reported. It lists infrastructure development measures for the period 2006-2014.
The duration of the programme coincided with Bulgaria's bid for hosting the Winter Olympics in 2014, BGNES reported.
An investment programme would accompany the strategy. The agency prioritised projects of national importance that needed urgent renovation to function properly. State investment is expected for most major infrastructure repairs.
Public-private partnership would provide funding for other projects.
In the past two years significant sums were invested inefficiently in low-quality renovation works, representatives of the national commission said.
A multi-functional sports hall would be constructed at the location of Iunak stadium, Lecheva said. This would be the major project, listed in the strategy. Sofia municipality would aid the construction work.
