The Bulgarian national rugby team, Rugby 15, will meet the Lithuanian squad on November 18 as a regular group B-3 stage in the European Championship. The match will take place in Etropole.
Almost a week before the big game, there is going to be a veterans tournament because of the fiftieth anniversary of the Lokomotiv rugby club. A tremendous party to celebrate half a century of rugby in Bulgaria is expected.
The president of the Bulgarian Rugby Federation, Liubomir Stoichkov, Federation General Secretary Georgi Marinkin and the national coach, Dariel Ianev, are among the events organisers.
Meanwhile, Murphys Misfits won third place in the First Old Boys tournament organised by The Steamrollers RC (Bulgarias 35-time Champions) in the memory of the late Dimitar Dimitrov - Mito - founder of rugby in Pernik.
The Misfits travelled to the miners town to the south of Sofia early on Saturday morning with their third team.
They played in good spirits, lost the first game with the hosting team and then won the second against a selection of Levski and Locomotive vets.
We are glad to be here and though most of the Misfit stars are absent due to the long weekend, we showed some compact play with good movements, said Misfits captain Vassil Varbanov. "We were again very well received in the city of Pernik.
