BULGARIA TO TAKE PART IN AIR POLICING
09:05 Thu 10 Aug 2006

Two fighter aircraft MiG-29 of the Bulgarian Air Force would be responsible for monitoring of Graf Ignatievo aviation base in Bulgaria.

Such operations are needed due to Bulgarias Air Policing engagements, Focus news agency reported.

Last year Bulgaria quit participating in the Air Policing programme due to the lack of technical resources.

An agreement with the Russian corporation RSK MiG for the recovery of MiG fighter aircraft enabled Bulgarias Air Force launch its participation in Air Policing once again, Focus reported.

Six fighter aircraft would be repaired as a part of the agreement with the Russian company.

Bulgarias MiG-29s meet NATO requirements for participation in Air Policing, Focus reported.

If Bulgaria goes for JAS 39 Gripen, it would be a cost effective and the worlds only real 4:th generation fighter build to defense a country, Gripen was involved i the big exercise RED FLAG in Alaska and did a great jobb. Hungry and Czech Republic also South Africa.check thisd from the US. http://www.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123024020
