The European Commission's (EC) report on Bulgaria's readiness to join the EU was objective, Bulgaria's Prosecutor-General Boris Velchev told Bulgarian National Radio (BNR).

The EC report was released on September 26. It recommended Bulgaria's EU entry on January 1 2007 without the introduction of safeguard clauses.

Velchev said that the EC report reflected the positive reforms in Bulgaria and what was left to be done.

Bulgaria's prosecution, along with police and investigation, had the tough task to prove that Bulgaria had a trustworthy juridical system, he said.

Bulgaria had to show to its European partners that every time the law in Bulgaria was violated, measures would be taken, Velchev said.
