A programme adopted by Bulgaria’s Cabinet against domestic violence provides for the setting up of a police emergency hotline for victims of domestic violence.
The line would operate 24 hours a day, Darik Radio reported.
The Cabinet had provided 270 000 leva for shelters for domestic violence victims. These shelters would be opened in every regional centre, Darik said.
Bulgaria’s Interior Ministry would publish a handbook against domestic violence.
The Cabinet also provided for legislative changes. Disobeying court orders issued to protect victims of domestic violence would become a criminal offence, Darik said.
