The Bulgarian Natural Disaster Management Ministry has requested assistance in dealing with the wildfires ravaging the country, the press office of the Ministry announced.
The request has been sent to the Euroatlantic center for coordination and action during disasters of NATO and the Center for Monitoring and information of the European Commission, according to Focus news agency.
Bulgaria has also requested help from Russia, citing a 1996 agreement for mutual assistance in times of disaster.
Currently, negotiations are underway with Turkey for sending a helicopter to assist in controlling the fires.
