Bulgaria needed to continue carrying out reforms in the agriculture sector as it already accepted engagements to the EU, Agriculture Minister Nihat Kabil said.
On August 1 Kabil presented the latest developments, based on recommendations from the European Commission report on measures needed for Bulgarias on-time EU entry, mediapool.bg reported.
The construction of border veterinary checkpoints was progressing according to schedule, Kabil said. Funding for the projects came from the PHARE programme.
An additional veterinary inspection checkpoint needed to be set up at the Sofia Airport. This project would receive state funding. The procedure for the selection of the project executor was underway and all work was going to be completed by September 1, Kabil said.
Bulgaria also needed to work on a system for online monitoring of fishing boats and ships, the setting of incinerators and the creation of a satellite photo database.
