Ahead of a visit of President Georgi Purvanov to Jordan, honorary consul of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Hasan Abdallah Khalaf Al Barmawi said Jordan hoped that Bulgaria would become a gateway to Europe for the country.
During Purvanov’s visit, a lot of work on the Bulgarian-Jordanian relations would be done, Al Barmawi told Focus news agency.
The three-day visit by the Bulgarian President would include a number of business meetings. A Bulgarian-Jordanian business forum, organised by the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, would take place.
According to Al Barmawi, Jordan was interested in the development of investments. The business forum could increase trade exchange between Bulgaria and Jordan, he said.
Transport, police and culture agreements for the period 2007 to 2009 between the two countries would be signed.
Al Barmawi said that all Bulgarian companies were welcome to Jordan. Jordanian honorary consulate could play an important role in communications and possible business relations.
On December 3 2007, Bulgarian President Purvanov left for an official visit to Jordan at the invitation of Jordanian king Abdullah II Bin Al-Hussein.
Purvanov will meet Jordanian prime minister Nader al-Dahabi and the Senate speaker Zaid Rifai. Bulgaria’s Interior Minister Roumen Petkov and Transport and Communications Minister Petar Moutafchief, as well as the Deputy Foreign Minister Feim Chaushev, Deputy Culture Minister Yavor Milushev and Deputy Interior Minister Goran Ionov, accompany Purvanov on his visit.
