The two largest mobile phone operators, MobilTel and GloBul, and WiMax operator Max Telecom have asked the state telecoms commission for additional network frequencies in the 900 MHz range, Intellinews reported on November 4.
MobilTel and GloBul argued the additional frequencies were needed because of increase in mobile phone usage, the introduction of new services and technology upgrades.
MobilTel and GloBul service nearly 5 and 4 million cards respectively, on a population of 7.7 million, Intellinews said.
Max Telecom said it wanted to broaden the scope of services offered under the WiMax network and offer services under the GSM standard, Intellinews said.
