Regional Development Minister Assen Gagauzov said that his ministry would negotiate changes in the Trakia highway concession deal, where improvement was possible.
The problems with the concession deal stem from the fact that it was given to a consortium of Bulgarian and Portuguese companies without a public tender. Despite objections, the Supreme Administrative Court ruled out that it was legal and now Bulgaria sought changes in the already approved concession, Darik Radio reported.
Bulgarian National Radio quoted Gagauzov as saying that changes in some financial parametres and traffic conditions would be sought.
According to the proposed changes the state would support the concessionaire for a fixed period of time through a loan and would try to increase the the Trakia highway traffic for which the concession deal was granted.
Minister Gagauzov had appointed a working group to start negotiations with the consortium, Bulgarian National Radio reported.
