BULGARIA'S STOYCHEV TRIES TO REACH TOP EIGHT IN WORLD SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIP

Five-time swimming marathon world cup holder Petar Stoychev would try to rank among the first eight competitors in the upcoming world open water swimming championship in Naples, Italy.

On August 31 Stoychev would take part in the 10km start. On September 3 he would compete in the 25 km discipline, BGNES Sport agency reported.

Ranking among the first eight was going to be good standing, taking into consideration the competition, Stoychev said.

Stoychev would miss the major marathon start in Naples on September 10 to get ready for the coming five starts in Brazil, China, Hong-Kong, Singapore and the final in Portugal.

According to information Stoychev was able to win the cup for the sixth consecutive time. The Bulgarian leads by 55 points in the current standing.

Recently Stoychev became the first Bulgarian swimmer to cross the English Channel with the third best time ever.
