The political council of the ruling tripartite coalition approved a draft law for amendments to Bulgarias Constitution.
European Commission experts already examined the proposed changes. The draft law featured among the main topic of discussion between representatives of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), National Movement Simeon II (NMSII) and Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF).
Most changes involve the justice and home affairs sectors, the work of the National Assembly and the opportunities for financial decentralisation.
One of the suggested changes would remove the need for quorum during the entire duration of a National Assembly session. Quorum would be needed only during the opening of a session and during voting.
The council approved the setting up of an inspectorate within the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC). The inspectorate would examine the work of all judicial institutions.
