BULGARIA'S RIGHT WING CONSIDERS PRELIMINARY ELECTIONS
09:00 Mon 15 May 2006

Right wing parties in Bulgaria are discussing preliminary elections after January 1 2007, representatives of different formations said.

Bulgaria has two faces, opposition representatives said. One is the image the ruling coalition presents to Europe and the other is the local chaos, corruption and crime, Novinar newspaper reported.

Union of Democratic Forces (UDF) member Ivan Kolchakov said that the selection of a right-wing president in the upcoming elections would give opposition the chance to change the political model.

Bulgaria People’s Union (BPU) leader Stefan Sofianski said the right wing was not ready yet for preliminary elections.

Bulgarian Agrarian People's Union  leader Anastasia Mozer said the current Cabinet cannot be taken down easily. Opposition should wait until January 1 2007 before it considers moves against the ruling coalition, said she.
