Prosecutor-General Boris Velchev and Interior Minister Roumen Petkov met today to discuss joint action in the coming months.
The two institutions will work together to counter organised crime, Focus news agency reported. Velchev and Petkov also discussed the implementation of measures listed in the new Penal Code.
The work of the Interior Ministry and the Prosecution should not rely on separate operations. These institutions need to have guiding policies, Petkov said.
A major step in the right direction is the creation of the anti-corruption administrative structure to aid the work of the Prosecution, said Petkov. Velchev gave the Interior Minister more information concerning the manner in which the regulatory body will function.
