Pirogov emergency institute needs eight million leva until the end of the year to provide higher wages for its medics.
Medics from the emergency institute have long been protesting in demand of higher wages and better working conditions. Pirogov’s strike committee presented on June 21 the demands of the protesting medical workers.
According to the medics, the monthly salary of a doctor should be 1600 leva and nurses should receive 800 leva.
Pirogov needed financing like the one provided to other hospitals. State should cover all patient care expenditure of the institute, the committee said.
Another type of funding that the institute could receive was for instruction and qualification.
Protesting medics have asked Bulgarian officials and celebrities for support. Sofia mayor Boiko Borissov said that he will support the demands of the medics. Committee members will meet President Georgi Purvanov in a month.
