Starting tomorrow, Bulgarian troops will start their new mission in Iraq, independent of foreign supervision.
The new mission involves guaranteeing the security of Ashraf refugee camp, located north of Iraq's capital Baghdad.
Until present Bulgarian soldiers executed their duties in co-operation with US troops. From tomorrow, they will maintain the camp's security on their own, Focus news agency reported.
The situation at Ashraf is calm, troop representatives said during a video talks with army chiefs in Bulgaria.
Tomorrow the Bulgarian soldiers will receive their military training certificates, enabling them to carry out the mission on their own, Darik Radio reported.
During the video talk, Defence Minister Vesselin Bliznakov and army chief of general staff Nikola Kolev congratulated Bulgarian troops abroad with May 6, the national army day.
