15:37 Wed 01 Aug 2007

Bulgarian football champions Levski made an unsuccessful start to the second round of the UEFA Champions League qualifiers, losing to Finland’s Tampere 0:1.

Levski finished the match without one player after Igor Tomasic was injured in the 83rd minute, Bulgarian National Radio reported. Levski had a bad start and missed its chance to score a goal in the sixth minute.

Towards the end of the first half, Levski tried to put its opponent under pressure, but lacked speed and surprise.

Tampere scored the first and only goal in the game in the 16th minute.

In the second half, Levski dominated the game but failed to change the result.

The return match is on August 7 2007 in Sofia.
