Bernar Moscheni, former CEO of Belgium’s Mobistar would be appointed executive director of the Bulgarian Telecommunication Company (BTC) on Janury 1 2008, BTC said on October 29, as quoted by the Dnevnik daily.

Moscheni would replace Martin Staub, who would remain on the board of directors. Staub would continue to be the chief executive of BTC by the end of this year, the company’s board member Pierre Mellinger was quoted as saying by Dnevnik.

Mobistar announced on October 26 that Moscheni had decided to leave the company before the end of 2007 and “take on a new professional challenge”. Werner De Laet, chief financial officer at Mobistar, was to ensure transition until a new CEO was appointed. Moscheni had been the head of Mobistar since October 2004.

Before that he was the executive chief of Orange Romania from 2000 by 2004 and led its re-branding operation to turn it into the undisputed leader in the mobile telecommunications sector in Romania, with the largest share of the local market. Moscheni had previously worked for more than 15 years in countries like France, Italy and Mexico.
