09:28 Tue 03 Oct 2006

Bulgaria's Foreign Minister Ivailo Kalfin would attend the October 3 session of the French senate during which Bulgaria's EU accession treaty is expected to be ratified.

Voting in the senate would put an end to the ratification procedure in France. The first stage was the approval of the document in the French national assembly on June 27, Bulgarian news agency BTA reported.

Romania's European integration minister Anca Boagiu would also attend the session.

After the end of the senate session Kalfin would meet its president Christian Poncelet.

Kalfin would also take part in a work dinner hosted by the chair of the senate's defence and  armed forces committee Serge Vincon.

The ratification process of Bulgaria and Romania's EU accession treaty has been completed in 22 out of the 25 member states. France, Germany and Denmark are expected to approve the treaty by the end of the year so that Romania and Bulgaria could join the union on January 1 2007.
