Double world champion in figure skating Maxim Staviski has been charged with causing a car crash with severe consequences by the prosecution in Bourgas.
Staviski was one of the faces of the campaign against drunk-driving, mediapool.bg reported.
The collision killed one person and another three were injured. Blood test showed that the sportsman had a blood alcohol concentration of 1.1 g/1000 ml.
If Staviski would be found guilty he could face three to ten years in prison.
On August 5 Staviski was alleged to have been speeding his Hummer when it collided with the car of the 23 year-old Petar Petrov from Sliven. Petrov died and one of his companions had been taken to hospital in critical condition.
