Bulgarian ice dance couple Albena Denkova and Maxim Staviski will take a decision concerning the continuation of their career after the world figure skating championship in Calagary, Canada.
President Georgi Purvanov tried to convince the couple to continue competing, Focus news agency reported. Staviski and Denkova told national television bTV they would participate in championships until they win the gold medal.
Denkova and Staviski did not get a medal from the Winter Olympics in Turin, though Bulgarian sport experts said the couple executed a rather complex programme. The two said various lobby groups in figure skating serve the interests of bigger nations.
Competitions have turned into politics and financial interests, Denkova and Staviski said. When their career ends, Denkova and Staviski said they would like to instruct children.
