Bulgaria's double world champion figure skating Albena Denkova will take part in the Russian show Ice Age of the ORT TV channel with her new partner, Russian showman and actor Igor Vernik.

The programme is an improvised figure skating competition. Famous people from all spheres of life would compete against professional figure skaters, Focus news agency reported.

The winners of the competition would be chosen by the audience. Figure skating world champion Irina Slutskaya would be the host of the show.

Vernik said before ORT that he was very happy to be Denkova's partner.

No official information has been given as to whether Denkova will continue working with her partner of many years, Maxim Staviski.

Staviski has been charged with causing a car accident with severe consequences on August 5. One person died and another three were seriously injured in the accident. Blood tests showed that Staviski had a blood alcohol concentration of 1.1 g/1000 ml.
