To meet EU requirements the Cabinet would have to pass within days a package of laws on political transparency and on public access to the assets declarations of high-level state officials.
Some of the measures include obligatory declaration of the sources of political financing, mediapool.bg reported.
Head of the economic policy parliamentary committee Yordan Tsonev said that although at present the Bulgarian National Audit Office announced the assets of the ministers, it lacked the authority to check their authenticity.
Despite the ban on anonymous donations, political parties refused to disclose the list of people and organisations providing them with funds, mediapool.bg said.
Law changes would aid parties re-gain the people's trust, Tsonev said. He said that the high corruption levels in Bulgaria over the past 15 years resulted mainly from the frequent law changes during the transition period and the lack of adequate regulations.
