Bulgarian national football team forward Dimitar Berbatov, who is currently playing for UK Tottenham, was injured during the match with Everton in the UK Premiership.
Berbatov took a charter flight to Germany where he would undergo medical analysis, UK newspaper The Sun reported as quoted by Bulgarian National Radio.
He will be unable to play for Tottenham for at least two weeks. If medical specialists decide that an operation is needed, he may stay out of Tottenham for a longer period of time.
Tottenham said that in case of an operation, Berbatov might not play about six weeks.
World leading bookmaker Sportingbet recently announced that Berbatov was the second-best bet to become the goal master of the Champions league in the new season.
Tottenham bought Berbatov in May 2006 from Germany’s Bayer Leverkusen for 10.9 million pounds.
