Tottenham’s striker Dimitar Berbatov was happy in the club and would not try to leave during the January 2008 transfer window, Tottenham’s sporting director Damien Comolli said.
Comolli told Sky Sports that he had already talked to Berbatov’s agent. Both discussed the future of the striker and made clear that “Tottenham [was] most definitely a part” of it.
“I met with Dimitar's agent and he assured me Dimitar is not looking for a move in January and simply wants to concentrate on helping push the team up the table,” Comolli said.
As to the rumors that Manchester United wanted to sign Berbatov, Comolli said, “it is simply not an issue.”
Comolli said that Berbatov was on a long-term contract and new manager Juande Ramos was seeing him “as an important part of our plans.”
