Despite all rumours to the contrary, Tottenham’s striker Dimitar Berbatov insists that he is happy at the club and plans to stay with it.

Both Berbatov's father and brother claimed that the striker wanted to leave Tottenham in the January 2008 transfer window, “with Manchester United preparing to make an offer,” Agence France-Presse (AFP) said.

The team’s new manager Juande Ramos had told the Bulgarian that he could leave the club, as Ramos only needed “fully committed players.”

Berbatov told Tottenham’s website that he was not going anywhere. “There has been a lot of stuff written about me leaving. I haven't said anything until now, but they are now involving my family and I cannot allow that,” he said. “I want to let everyone know that I am a Tottenham Hotspur player, I love the club and everyone at the club.”

Still, the striker admitted that the speculation over his future and his leaving the club “had taken its toll on his performances,” AFP said.

“I just want to say that I am here, I am happy here and I will help the club in any way I can,” Bervatov concluded.
