BULGARIA'S BANSKO HOSTS EUROPEAN SKI CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND

On January 29 and 30 Bansko winter resort will host a round of the women's Alpine skiing European Cup.

Out of the top 70 competitors in the international rank list, 20 would take part in the Bansko round of the competition, BGNES Sport agency reported.

Some of the most famous competitors expected in Bulgaria include Tina Weirather  from Lichtenstein, Veronika Zuzulova from Slovakia, Mateja Robnik from Slovenia and Katrin Hoelzl  from Germany.

A total of 83 foreign skiers will compete in Bulgaria.

Bulgaria will be represented by five Alpine skiers. Among them are Maria Kirkova, Silvia Madzharska, Desislava Dzhourova, Petia Georgieva and Stefania Savkova.

A Bulgarian resort will host a round of the cup for the since 21 years. Turin Olympic champion Michaela Dorfmeister and national ski team consultant Marc Girardelli will be guests of the event.

The event costs 800 000 leva. Part of the sum comes from the state budget and private donations provided the other part.
