Bulgaria will win only one gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, US sports magazine Sports Illustrated predicted.
Wrestler Stanka Zlateva was the only Bulgarian sports person capable of winning the gold.
Bulgaria’s team would also win five silver and three bronze medals, mainly thanks to its wrestling team, Sports Illustrated said. Wrestlers Armen Nazarian (60 kg), Nikolay Gergov (66 kg) and Radoslav Velikov would win three of the predicted silver medals. The other two would be won by gymnast Yordan Yovchev and rower Roumyana Neykova.
The rhythmic gymnastics team and the wrestlers Yavor Yanakiev and Anatoli Guidia would provide the three bronze medals for Bulgaria.
According to Sports Illustrated, China would win most gold medals, 49, followed by US, 45 and Russia, 25.
