Bulgaria's sole representative in Uefa Champions League Levski Sofia football club left the tournament after failing to win its return leg against Belorussian BATE Borissov on August 27 2008. The game ended in a 1-1 draw.
On August 13, BATE Borissov took the victory way from Levski in Sofia and with a 2-1 aggregate result on now advance to the group stages of the tournament.
Now all that Levski can hope for is more luck in the Uefa Cup tournament draw scheduled for August 29.
Two other Bulgarian teams have a chance to join Levski in the draw. On August 28, Litex Lovech and Cherno More Varna will play against Israel's Kiryat Shmona and Maccabi Netanya, respectively.
Litex' first game against Kiryat Shmona ended in a goalless draw at home while Cherno More recorded a 1-1 draw in Israel.
The fourth Bulgarian team playing in Uefa Cup tournament this year, Lokomotiv Sofia, dropped out on August 26 after losing 2-1 on aggregate to Serbian Borac Čačak.
