Bulgaria has executed over 40 per cent of the reforms recommended in the May 16 report of the European Commission (EC) on the country's accession readiness.
On July 14 the Foreign Ministry sent to Brussels the first part of its report on Bulgaria's accession progress, aiming to provide all necessary details to guarantee the objectivity of the final EC report in September, Darik Radio reported.
Foreign Minister Ivailo Kalfin said that if Bulgaria maintained the current reforms pace, the country would be able to fulfil all entry requirements by September, when the final EC recommendation on the accession date was expected.
European Integration Minister Meglena Kouneva said that she was satisfied with what had been achieved. She said that she hoped the EC report in September would be the last one for Bulgaria before the country's accession.
On July 17 and 18 Kouneva would participate in the meeting of the General Relations and External Affairs Council to take place in Brussels. The council would discuss the Finnish EU presidency priorities and foreign affairs issues, Bulgarian National Radio reported.
During her stay in Brussels Kouneva would meet Siim Kalas, vice EU president and commissioner for administrative affairs, audit and anti-fraud, and EU enlargement commissioner Olli Rehn. On July 19 Kouneva would meet EU justice freedom and security commissioner Franco Frattini.
