Bulgaria had entered the top 10 of destinations most preferred by Germans. The country did not rank among the most attractive destinations in the past three years, GIATA – Hoteldatenbank Ranking showed.

The ranking was based on the number of trips sold and interest shown in various destinations, based on data from October 2006 and October 2007, BGNES news agency said.

Hotel bookings in 60 000 hotels and almost 200 000 tourist products that had been sold by the 75 largest German tour operators were included in the ranking, investor.bg said.

Bulgaria jumped to eighth place in October 2007, compared to a 19th position in October 2006.

The ranking considered trips for 2007 and bookings for the spa tourism in March and April 2008.

Spain and Turkey remain most popular destinations for German tourists, followed by Greece and Egypt.
