Bulgaria was among the countries having best traditions in the field of information technologies (IT) in the world, State Administration Minister Nikolai Vassilev said.
Bulgaria ranked third in Europe according to the number of IT specialist per capita, he said as quoted by Focus news agency.
In the world ranking on the same criteria the country ranks eighth.
More than 110 Cisco and Microsoft academies were opened in Bulgaria and nearly 5000 IT specialists graduate from local universities every year.
Most of the revenue in the IT sector, 80 per cent, came from contracts with European and American companies, Vassilev said.
He also said that e-government development was among the priorities of the State Administration Ministry. EU fund utilisation was the other priority, he said.
