Bulgaria moved one place forward in the all-time Winter Olympics ranking. The country holds the 23rd position.
After the Turin games the country gained one place in the ranking. Each country’s position is calculated on the number of medals gained, the Bulgarian National Radio reported.
Bulgarian athletes gained one golden, two silver and three bronze medals. These results rank the country as one of the 25 nations with strong competitors in winter sports disciplines.
Russia holds the first position. Its athletes won 294 medals. Germany, Norway, USA, Australia and Switzerland follow.
Athletes from a record high number of countries won medals from the 20th Winter Olympics in Turin. Representatives of 26 countries won the distinctions. Germany leads with 29 medals, 11 of which golden.
Bulgaria finished the Turin Olympics at the 22nd position with one silver medal. Evgenia Radanova brought the medal with her accomplishment in the 500-metre short track competition.
